Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay led a review meeting with IAS and IPS officers in Tamil Nadu, focusing on Drug-Free Tamil Nadu, women’s safety, and effective government welfare schemes. The meeting, the first major administrative conference under the TVK government, emphasized law and order, governance priorities, and the implementation of key initiatives. Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal and other top officials gathered at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai in the Secretariat for this two-day conference.
The conference, attended by various officials including District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, and Forest Department officials, aimed to evaluate departmental performance and action plans. CM Vijay structured the conference into three sessions covering 28 government departments. The initial session, with District Collectors and senior police officers, delved into law and order, district administration, and government program implementations.
The Chief Minister’s focus included strengthening women’s safety, combating crimes like chain-snatching, and enhancing policing accountability and transparency. Discussions also addressed intelligence gathering, expediting arrest warrants, and monitoring habitual offenders. The conference extensively covered the law and order status, strategies to prevent conflicts, and the functioning of special task forces.
The meeting highlighted the Drug-Free Tamil Nadu initiative, emphasizing campaigns against narcotics, enforcement against illicit liquor, and measures to combat banned tobacco sales. Subsequent sessions were dedicated to District Collectors reviewing welfare scheme implementations and forest conservation. The conference will culminate with Chief Minister Vijay’s address and recognition of outstanding officials for their contributions.
