Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit India to participate in the 16th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors and High Representatives on National Security scheduled for June 22-23. This visit comes following an invitation extended by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. India, as the BRICS chair for 2026, is focusing on the theme of ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability’, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision outlined during the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
Wang Yi’s attendance at the meeting signifies China’s commitment to the BRICS platform. Earlier, China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, praised India for hosting the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting successfully. The event highlighted consensus among BRICS nations on various global and regional issues, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and reform in global governance.
During the recent BRICS Sherpa Meeting, China’s Executive Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu engaged with Indian officials, including Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in the India-China Strategic Dialogue. The discussions encompassed bilateral relations, global and regional scenarios, and multilateral affairs, showcasing the ongoing diplomatic exchanges between the two nations.
