Banned Chinese manja tragically caused the death of a 35-year-old man named Avidesh in Telangana’s Sangareddy district. The fatal incident occurred when the manja from a flying kite entangled around Avidesh’s neck while he was riding a motorcycle, resulting in a deep cut that led to his immediate death due to severe bleeding.
Following a series of similar incidents in Hyderabad, where over a dozen people were injured recently, authorities have intensified their efforts. An Assistant Sub-Inspector from Nallakunta police station was also injured by Chinese manja while riding his motorcycle, prompting a case registration and investigation.
In a separate incident, a 70-year-old woman suffered a severe leg injury after Chinese manja entangled around her leg in Meerpet. The misuse of Chinese manja has led to multiple injuries and even fatalities, including the death of a Naik-rank officer of the Indian Army in Hyderabad in 2024.
