Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his 2026 New Year message, expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with all nations to promote world peace and development. Xi highlighted China’s efforts over the past year in engaging with the world positively. He mentioned China’s commitment to addressing climate change through new Nationally Determined Contributions and the introduction of global initiatives on development, security, and civilization. Xi also emphasized the Global Governance Initiative aimed at fostering a fairer global governance system, stating that China consistently aligns itself with the right side of history.
Xi reiterated the inevitability of China’s reunification and emphasized the strong bonds of blood and kinship between the Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. He affirmed that the reunification of China is a prevailing trend that cannot be halted. Regarding Hong Kong and Macao, Xi stressed the importance of steadfastly implementing the “one country, two systems” policy to support the integration of these regions into China’s overall development for sustained prosperity and stability.
In his address, Xi highlighted China’s integration of science and technology with industries, resulting in significant innovations and the emergence of numerous advanced AI models. This technological progress has positioned China as one of the fastest-growing economies in terms of innovation capabilities. Xi also mentioned notable achievements such as the launch of the Tianwen-2 probe for asteroid and comet exploration, the commencement of a hydropower project on the Yarlung Zangbo River, and the official commissioning of China’s first aircraft carrier equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system. Additionally, he noted impressive demonstrations by humanoid robots performing kung fu and drones showcasing dazzling light displays, emphasizing how inventions and innovations have enriched people’s lives.
