Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen provided an update to fans following his collapse during a recent match. Eriksen, who collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine, confirmed that the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) he had worked as intended. This incident occurred five years after Eriksen’s cardiac arrest during the European Championship.
In a message on his Instagram story, Eriksen reassured everyone that he is doing well and is back home with his family. He expressed gratitude for the support received and the effectiveness of the medical team and doctors who have cared for him over the years. Eriksen emphasized that his focus now is on recovery, spending time with family, going on vacation, and playing football with his children.
Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen, revealed that Eriksen had briefly lost consciousness after the incident, leading to the match being stopped and abandoned.
