The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the West Bengal Police took the statement of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Bikarna Naskar from Gosaba Assembly constituency regarding a case against Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Abhishek is accused of delivering hate speeches before the recent West Bengal Assembly elections, allegedly inciting violence and threatening Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Naskar visited the CID headquarters in south Kolkata to provide his statement on the matter. It is claimed that Abhishek’s inflammatory statements led to an attack on Naskar by Trinamool Congress supporters before the elections, resulting in a police complaint being filed.
CID, tasked with investigating the violence-inciting remarks, recorded Naskar’s statement as a witness in the case. Abhishek, despite court orders, has failed to appear and provide voice samples, prompting the public prosecutor to seek legal action against him for obstructing the investigation.
