The incident led to a criminal investigation by Russian authorities. The General Director of the Russian State Circus mentioned that a specialized commission would evaluate the situation. He emphasized the presence of trained assistants with safety equipment during performances involving predators to prevent emergencies.
Chairman of the Association of Travelling Circuses of Russia suggested that human error might have caused the protective cage to collapse.
