Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu highlighted the significance of Indian airports as the country’s global identity markers, blending innovation and architecture with local heritage. Addressing the Airports Authority of India’s 31st Annual Day, he praised AAI for supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s UDAN vision, ensuring air travel accessibility across diverse terrains. Initiatives like UDAN Yatri Cafe, Flybrary, Free Wi-Fi, and Kids Zones are enhancing the passenger experience, making AAI a world-class airport developer and operator.
Naidu, during the Civil Aviation Consultative Committee meeting, focused on aircraft manufacturing and maintenance within India. He underscored the government’s aim, led by PM Modi, to bolster the Atmanirbhar aviation ecosystem by strengthening domestic capabilities and integrating India into the global aviation supply chain. Naidu expressed gratitude to participating MPs for their insights and support in advancing civil aircraft manufacturing in the country.
In response to a surge in aviation turbine fuel prices, the government’s measured approach aims to mitigate sharp increases in domestic airfares. Naidu emphasized that this strategy safeguards passengers and the aviation industry, preventing abrupt fare hikes and ensuring sector stability. By maintaining reasonable airfares, the government aims to facilitate cargo movement, sustain vital air connectivity for trade, and support economic activities.
