At least 10 civilians have reportedly gone missing in Balochistan as a result of raids and operations carried out by Pakistani forces in various districts, including Nushki, Khuzdar, and Surab. In Nushki’s Killi Mengal region, residents witnessed a significant search operation on Monday morning, with around 20 military vehicles encircling the area and conducting house-to-house searches. Seven individuals were allegedly detained during this operation and later taken to undisclosed locations, identified as Shah Khalid, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Niaz, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Arif, Alauddin, and Abdul Basit.
In a separate incident in Surab’s Hajika area on the same day, Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) reportedly detained two men, Ubaidullah and Khuda Bakhsh, during a house raid. The family of these men, who worked as farmers, stated that they were taken away to an unknown place, with no information about their whereabouts since. Moreover, in Khuzdar’s Doctor Colony area, a 25-year-old shopkeeper named Saifur Rehman was apprehended by Pakistani forces on the night of May 25, allegedly by personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI), and moved to an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, additional cases of abduction involving a businessman and a child were reported in Balochistan’s Kech district, raising concerns about a rise in kidnapping incidents, particularly in the Makran region. Armed individuals on motorcycles reportedly abducted Khalil Haleem, the son of businessman Abdul Haleem, from the Rodban area of Tump tehsil on May 29. The abductors allegedly demanded a significant ransom from the family, although this has not been officially confirmed. Similarly, businessman Aqeel Akbar was reportedly abducted by armed individuals from Bilnagor in the Dasht area on the evening of May 30. These incidents of kidnapping for ransom have heightened worries among local residents about the worsening security situation in Balochistan.
