In a concerning incident at a private school in Hyderabad, a Class 2 student was instructed by a teacher to recite the ‘Kalma’, sparking anger among parents and locals. The school, located in Saidabad area, faced backlash prompting the management to dismiss the teacher involved. The student had reportedly been given this task as part of a homework assignment.
Parents expressed outrage upon discovering the teacher’s actions and raised objections to the introduction of religious practices in academic settings. They demanded swift action against the school authorities and individuals pressuring students into such activities. Videos circulating on social media captured parents confronting school officials over the issue.
Responding to the outcry, the school terminated the teacher’s services following widespread criticism. The parents called for a thorough investigation and emphasized the importance of maintaining a clear boundary between religious teachings and school curriculum. They also sought police intervention to hold the school accountable for the incident.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) strongly condemned the incident, denouncing it as an infringement on children’s rights. VHP representative Vinod Bansal criticized the school for introducing religious education to young students, emphasizing the need for educational institutions to focus on imparting knowledge rather than religious doctrines. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari linked the incident to alleged conversion activities in Telangana, implicating the Congress party in the matter.
