The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has not requested permission from the Delhi Police for their planned Parliament march on July 20. Sources indicate that due to the march coinciding with the Monsoon Session of Parliament, it is unlikely that permission will be granted. The CJP has been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 6, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak.
In a recent development, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike for 20 days at Jantar Mantar, was moved to a hospital after his health deteriorated. This action was taken following the directives of the Delhi High Court and medical advice. The police, amidst protests by CJP activists and the public, transferred Wangchuk to the hospital from the protest site.
Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of CJP, alleged mistreatment by the Delhi Police, claiming he was beaten and dragged while attempting to reach Jantar Mantar after Wangchuk was taken to the hospital. Dipke vowed to continue the protest and announced his own hunger strike. He criticized the police for forcibly removing Wangchuk and accused them of obstructing his own access to the protest site.
Despite the challenges faced, Dipke emphasized that the protest will persist, with plans for a march on July 20 and his own hunger strike. He also mentioned that several legislators and parliamentarians were denied entry to the protest site. The demonstrators have urged political parties to join their cause, calling for Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper leak issue.
