Two members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) met Union Minister and BJP President J.P. Nadda at his residence to present three key demands. The CJP representatives, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, requested the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, and compensation for NEET aspirants’ families.
The delegation initially discussed their demands verbally around noon, later submitting a written memorandum at 4 p.m. outlining their requests. Despite no assurances from Nadda during the meeting, he urged the protesters to end their sit-in at Jantar Mantar for normalcy.
Following a cordial meeting, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das expressed worries about police actions at the protest site, emphasizing that their demands represent the youth’s aspirations. The government, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, monitored the situation, instructing minimal force usage by police and paramilitary forces.
The government defended its handling of examination issues, highlighting the participation of millions of students in national tests like NEET, JEE, and CUET. They mentioned ongoing counseling and admissions processes, focusing on genuine aspirants seeking admissions amid the controversy.
