The Centre for Fire, Explosives & Environment Safety (CFEES) under DRDO and the National Fire Service College (NFSC) in Nagpur have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint research in fire safety. This partnership aims to foster innovation and knowledge exchange in the field. The MoU was formalized on July 27, 2026, with the exchange taking place between the Directors of CFEES and NFSC.
CFEES, a DRDO laboratory operating within the System Analysis and Modelling (SAM) cluster, focuses on fire, explosives, and environmental safety. On the other hand, NFSC in Nagpur is a renowned institute that specializes in training professionals in fire safety, industrial safety, disaster management, and emergency response. The institute is committed to providing high-quality training that aligns with industry requirements, equipping students with the necessary skills and values for successful careers in safety and risk management.
This collaboration between CFEES and NFSC is expected to lead to the development of innovative strategies to address contemporary challenges in fire safety. Leveraging the DRDO laboratory’s expertise in explosives, professionals will receive enhanced training to effectively manage disasters involving such materials. Additionally, NFSC will utilize CFEES facilities to conduct research on modern disaster management techniques.
As industries evolve, there is a growing need to upgrade fire management practices to minimize damage and reduce casualties during accidents. Officials emphasize the importance of maintaining stringent fire safety protocols, especially in industries dealing with explosives and flammable substances. Specialized teams may be essential in ensuring compliance with safety standards at such facilities.
