Combat-related deaths in Pakistan rose by 30% in February, driven by an increase in suicide attacks nationwide. A report from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) disclosed 470 deaths and 333 injuries during the month. Among the victims were 96 civilians, 80 security forces personnel, and 294 militants, as reported by Dawn.

The data indicated a significant spike in security forces personnel deaths by 74%, civilian deaths by 32%, and militant deaths by 21% compared to January. Violence notably escalated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its merged districts, with 53 security forces personnel and six civilians killed. Additionally, 35 security personnel and 48 civilians were injured in the region in February.

In February, three suicide bombings occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in 17 fatalities, including 14 security forces personnel, and 20 injuries. Another suicide bombing in Islamabad led to 34 deaths and 165 injuries. Furthermore, a suicide attack in Punjab’s Bhakkar district claimed the lives of two police personnel and injured four others.

The first two months of 2026 saw a total of 831 combat-related deaths in Pakistan, including 536 militants, 169 civilians, and 126 security forces personnel. An explosion near Miryan Police Station in Bannu district on Monday left two people dead and 14 injured, including a child. Emergency teams promptly responded, transporting the victims to hospitals for treatment.

Following the blast, a significant police presence, including the Bomb Disposal Squad and Quick Response Force, arrived at the scene for investigation and security measures. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation commenced as authorities collected evidence to determine the cause of the explosion.
