Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently held discussions with senior officials from L’Oréal Groupe, focusing on enhancing sourcing, manufacturing, and exports in India. Goyal, in a meeting with Vismay Sharma, President of South Asia Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa Zone at L’Oréal Groupe, highlighted the potential for growth in the beauty and personal care sector in India.
L’Oréal recently inaugurated the world’s largest Beauty Tech Global Capacity Centre in Hyderabad, signaling a commitment to innovation in the country. The French cosmetics giant’s investment of approximately $383.4 million aims to establish a hub for AI-driven beauty innovation and generate 2,000 tech jobs by 2030.
The bilateral trade between India and France has been consistent, ranging from 9.17 to 12.50 billion euros over the past five years, with total trade reaching 12.67 billion euros in FY 2024-2025. India’s exports to France stood at nearly 6.67 billion euros during this period, showcasing the strong economic ties between the two countries.
The newly established centre in Hyderabad will serve as a global innovation and capability hub, supporting L’Oréal’s technology, data, digital, and supply chain operations worldwide. It is expected to drive the company’s AI, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives across various markets, further solidifying its presence in the beauty industry.
Commerce Minister Goyal, along with officials from the Department of Commerce and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, recently explored strategies to boost global exposure for Indian businesses. The discussions centered on enhancing exports and investments, creating opportunities for new exporters, and accessing untapped global markets to foster economic growth.
India’s total exports of goods and services surged to a record high of $863.11 billion in the financial year 2025-26, marking a 4.6% increase from the previous fiscal year. Despite challenges such as US tariff issues and geopolitical uncertainties, India’s trade sector demonstrated resilience and growth, as reported by the Commerce Ministry.
