The Congress party has made new appointments in two crucial departments of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee as part of its organizational restructuring. Mahesh Rajput has been appointed as the Chairperson of the OBC Department, while Rajendrakumar Parghi is now the Chairperson of the Adivasi Congress in Gujarat. Rajput, who has been associated with the Congress for many years, currently holds the position of Working President of the OBC Department and serves as the General Secretary of GPCC.
Rajput has a long history of organizational roles within the Congress, including being an observer and in-charge of the Gir Somnath District Congress Committee since 2021. He previously served as the President of the Rajkot District and City Congress Committee and as the Working President of the unit. Additionally, he held the position of GPCC Secretary and has been a state unit delegate since March 2018.
Parghi, on the other hand, has experience in various organizational and elected positions, particularly in local and youth bodies. He previously served as the President of the Gujarat Panchayat Parishad and the Aravalli District Panchayat. Currently, he is the General Secretary of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee and has led the Sabarkantha Youth Congress in the past.
The appointments of Rajput and Parghi are in line with the Congress’s strategy to strengthen its organizational structure and enhance social representation in Gujarat, with a specific focus on including key communities like OBCs and Adivasis in leadership roles. This move aligns with the party’s emphasis on OBC representation, led by Amit Chavda, a prominent OBC leader who heads the unit.
