The Congress has strongly criticized the Delhi Police for filing an FIR related to the alleged circulation of an unpublished book by former Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane. Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh emphasized the importance of the concerns raised in the book for the nation. He accused the BJP-led government of using such investigations to divert attention from critical national issues and stifle opposition voices in Parliament.
Congress MP Mallu Ravi claimed that the FIR was politically motivated and orchestrated by the ruling party to create an issue. He accused the BJP government of evading substantial responses. Another Congress leader, Husain Dalwai, questioned the government’s strong reaction to an unpublished book, expressing surprise at their fear. Dalwai highlighted that the content of the book pertained to events at the border, questioning the need for such apprehension.
The Delhi Police confirmed the registration of an FIR regarding the alleged sharing of contents from the unpublished book titled “Four Stars of Destiny” authored by former General (Retd) Naravane. The case involves the dissemination of book content on social media platforms without the required clearance from the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The controversy arose after reports claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had accessed the manuscript, which had not received MoD approval for publication.
JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha cautioned against politicizing national security matters, labeling the issue as sensitive. Jha criticized the sharing of the unpublished book on social media, stressing that it goes against the country’s interests. The controversy has heightened tensions between the ruling party and the Opposition, with the Congress urging a focus on substantive issues rather than attempts to suppress debate.
