The Congress party has continued its criticism of the government regarding the disruption of the NEET-UG 2026 exam. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh stated that claims of a parliamentary standing committee giving a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are misleading. Ramesh emphasized that the committee did not exonerate the Prime Minister or his administration.
Ramesh, who serves as the Congress General Secretary for Communications, highlighted that the Standing Committee on Education did not express confidence in the Prime Minister or his administration. He pointed out that a particular media report was spreading misleading information based on questionable sources. Ramesh stressed the importance of ensuring the successful conduct of the NEET re-exam for the benefit of students.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, with admit cards expected by June 14. The original exam was canceled on May 12 due to allegations of a paper leak, causing widespread concern among candidates and their families. Earlier, Ramesh had called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, questioning the CBSE’s handling of the exam process.
Ramesh criticized the government and its Education system, labeling them as incompetent, corrupt, and arrogant. He accused the system of mishandling previous exams and failing to address issues effectively. Ramesh also highlighted the need for accountability and integrity in the education system, urging Minister Pradhan to step down to uphold ethical standards.
