The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has introduced ‘Project M’ to bolster its grassroots network before the upcoming elections. This initiative aims to engage women from minority communities, enhancing the party’s organizational reach. At the launch event held at Indira Bhawan in Bhopal, senior leaders, including state Congress In-charge Harish Choudhary, interacted with women representatives to discuss plans for their increased involvement in political and social spheres.
State Congress President Jitu Patwari emphasized that ‘Project M’ seeks to facilitate broader participation of women who have traditionally been excluded from mainstream politics. He highlighted the mission’s goal of empowering women from minority communities to actively contribute to democracy and society. Patwari stressed the importance of women serving as a vital link between the public and political engagement.
The State Congress Chief underscored the party’s belief that substantial political transformations originate at the grassroots level. He expressed that the initiative envisions women playing a pivotal role in connecting communities with democratic processes. With the Congress out of power in Madhya Pradesh for over two decades, the launch of ‘Project M’ signifies a strategic effort to rejuvenate the party through targeted social and organizational initiatives.
‘Project M’ is designed as a sustained endeavor to establish a distinct grassroots framework led by minority women and to identify emerging leaders locally. A state-level women’s leadership group comprising approximately 160 members has been established as part of this initiative. These members will operate in various settings to engage women with the party’s principles, welfare initiatives, and organizational endeavors.
Unlike traditional mobilization campaigns, participants in ‘Project M’ will not be involved in large-scale protests, clarified State Congress Media In-charge Mukesh Nayak. Instead, their primary responsibility will involve direct engagement within their communities, fostering political consciousness, and building support networks at the grassroots level. The campaign is set to be implemented gradually across all districts in Madhya Pradesh.
The party’s strategy for ‘Project M’ centers on fostering dialogue, providing training, and conducting organizational activities to encourage greater participation of women from minority communities in active political roles.
