Congress leader Husain Dalwai criticized the BJP-led Central government for allegedly pushing Hindutva ideology among students. This comes after the NCERT included a section on the Emergency in class 9 social science textbooks, fifty years after it occurred. Dalwai expressed concern over the focus on religious topics and warned against shaping students with Hindutva ideology, which he believes could harm the country.
Dalwai highlighted the importance of considering various issues beyond religious matters and criticized the government’s approach. He emphasized that India had a unique culture and identity globally respected since Jawaharlal Nehru’s time. Dalwai accused the current BJP government of undermining India’s legacy and standing in the world.
In another development, Dalwai condemned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Dina Patil for his behavior towards the media. He reminded Patil of his role as a public representative and criticized his reported use of abusive language and threats towards journalists on camera. Dalwai urged Patil to uphold the dignity of his position and refrain from intimidating behavior.
Dalwai also called for a fair investigation into the alleged connection between Ujjain land deals and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family. Drawing a parallel with past incidents, Dalwai referenced the resignation of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in a corruption scandal. He demanded Yadav’s resignation over the land deals issue and criticized the BJP, suggesting that Yadav should step down if the party has any sense of accountability.
