Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, has urged for an investigation into the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others. Kharge emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry, echoing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s call for a probe by a Supreme Court judge due to suspicions surrounding the incident.
Expressing concern over recent plane accidents despite the common use of air travel by political and corporate figures, Kharge highlighted the necessity to scrutinize such incidents. He cited a recent plane crash in Ahmedabad involving a small aircraft, underscoring the importance of understanding the circumstances leading to such tragedies.
In a somber tone, Mallikarjun Kharge mourned the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar, describing it as a profound loss. He extended condolences to Pawar’s family, acknowledging the pain they are enduring and offering prayers for their strength during this difficult period. Ajit Pawar, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, perished in a fiery crash as the chartered plane he was on crashed while attempting to land at Baramati Airport.
Following the tragic event, the Maharashtra government announced a three-day state mourning period to honor Ajit Pawar’s memory. Known for his strong grassroots connections and people-centric leadership, Pawar will receive a state funeral as a tribute to his contributions to the state.

Shivakumar, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress president, expressed shock and sorrow over Ajit Pawar’s death, emphasizing the need for political leaders to exercise caution during travel.
