In a direct criticism of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Congress Media and Publicity Department Chairman Pawan Khera has urged RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat to exhibit accountability by revealing “his papers” and subjecting the organization to the Indian Constitution. Khera’s comments were prompted by recent statements from Bhagwat and an alleged threatening remark made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramesh Jigajinagi.
Khera, through a social media post, challenged Bhagwat to present his documents to the public, emphasizing the need for transparency. He criticized the Sangh Parivar, suggesting a deep-rooted casteist and communal aspect within the organization. Referring to Bhagwat’s stance on Hinduism’s openness, Khera questioned the necessity for the Sangh to adhere to any restrictions.
Highlighting an incident involving BJP MP Jigajinagi’s confrontation with Priyank Kharge, Khera questioned the Sangh’s treatment of Dalits and the ideology behind such actions. He stressed the importance of all citizens, especially Dalits, feeling secure to question organizations like the Sangh within the framework of the Constitution.
Accusing the MP of making threats, Khera raised concerns about the safety of those challenging the Sangh’s ideologies. Drawing parallels to historical events, he mentioned Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and the alleged involvement of the Sangh, alongside the slogan “Congress-Mukt Bharat.” Khera underscored an ongoing ideological battle between the Sangh and constitutional principles, invoking the legacies of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Jawaharlal Nehru.
In a firm message to Mohan Bhagwat, Pawan Khera emphasized the necessity for the RSS to align with constitutional values. He called for transparency within the organization, echoing the demand for accountability that the Sangh places on others.
