Veteran Congress leader Margaret Alva expressed disapproval of the protest staged by party workers at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi, emphasizing the need for dignity and discipline at international gatherings. Alva highlighted the importance of responsible behavior during such events, particularly in maintaining decorum and accountability. She also commended Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, recognizing his acceptance among the public and his significant role within the party.

The protest, which occurred at Bharat Mandapam during the summit, has sparked political reactions, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemning the disruption of the international event by Indian Youth Congress members. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the protest, stating that it reflected poorly on the country’s reputation. Various political figures have expressed concerns over the protest’s conduct, underscoring the necessity of upholding etiquette at global forums.

The demonstration took place amidst the India AI Impact Summit’s discussions on advancements in artificial intelligence and global collaborations in emerging technologies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also rebuked the Congress party for the protest staged by its youth wing, labeling the party as ideologically bankrupt. He referenced the recent shirtless protest at the summit, criticizing the opposition’s stance on issues like unemployment, inflation, and the India-US trade deal. Modi highlighted the significance of the AI Summit in showcasing India’s progress and urged pride in the country’s achievements.
