Amid the evolving political landscape in Tamil Nadu post-election, Karur MP and senior Congress leader Jothimani has supported the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee’s choice to back the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government formation efforts. In a social media post, she emphasized the Congress party’s historical alliance with the DMK, acknowledging the natural fluctuations in political partnerships.
Jothimani highlighted that despite past differences, the Congress leadership has opted to align with TVK for the state’s welfare and future. Reflecting on the State’s political history, she noted the common occurrence of forming and breaking alliances in politics, citing the DMK’s separation from the Congress just before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress leader emphasized the need for a respectful political separation between the parties in the current scenario, urging against the use of disrespectful language. She criticized the harsh criticism aimed at the Congress by certain DMK supporters post-election, deeming it politically inappropriate given the electoral defeat suffered by the DMK.
Jothimani defended Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, asserting that the party does not require validation for his capabilities. She positioned Rahul Gandhi as a national leader capable of challenging the BJP’s governance firmly, warning against any attempts to undermine him. Emphasizing the natural evolution of political alliances, she expressed confidence in the Congress’s commitment to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests.
