Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar responded to comments made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Congress MLC Yathindra, asserting that there will be no leadership change in Karnataka. Shivakumar sarcastically remarked that Yathindra is considered the high command, indicating his acceptance of Yathindra’s statement that his father will complete the full term.
Shivakumar made these remarks in Mangaluru Airport, emphasizing that he will respect Yathindra’s words as the high command. He refrained from directly addressing statements by MLA Shivagnaga Basavaraj and Yathindra, suggesting that any clarifications should come from the leadership in Delhi.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Congress Bhavan in Mangaluru, Shivakumar announced plans to lay foundation stones for 100 Congress party offices in March. He dismissed allegations of excluding Muslims from the event, stating that the Congress engages in politics based on principles, not caste or religion.
Yathindra Siddaramaiah had previously stated that the party high command rejected calls for a leadership change, affirming that his father will continue as Chief Minister for the next five years. These statements by Yathindra were seen as a response to Congress MLA Shivaganga Basavaraj’s concerns about leadership issues in Karnataka.
