Supplementing Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign, Congress leaders held press conferences in 28 cities across India on Thursday. They called for a complete revamp of the country’s education system. The campaign, initiated by Rahul Gandhi on June 17 from Kota, Rajasthan, aims to address issues in education.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary Communications In-charge, highlighted the campaign’s impact on the youth nationwide. He criticized the current education system under the Narendra Modi government, labeling it as an extortion racket. Ramesh pointed out concerns such as paper leaks and malpractices in examinations, causing distress among students.
The Congress leaders emphasized the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They accused him of representing the Modi government’s alleged lack of vision and rigid approach to education. Despite calls for his removal, Pradhan remains in his position, with the party claiming he is supported by the Prime Minister.
Press conferences were organized in various cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Delhi, among others. Senior Congress members like Kanhaiya Kumar, Gaurav Gogoi, and Satej Patil spearheaded these events. The party aims to initiate a national dialogue on reshaping the education system to align with the aspirations of the youth and promote inclusivity and modernization.
