The Congress party conveyed warm greetings to citizens nationwide on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, highlighting the festival’s essence of compassion and togetherness. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge shared their wishes on social media, emphasizing joy, prosperity, and good health. Additionally, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra described Eid-ul-Fitr as a festival of love, harmony, and brotherhood, extending congratulations to all.
The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is being celebrated by Muslims globally, including in India, through prayers, feasts, and gatherings. However, subdued celebrations in parts of West Asia this year due to conflicts have impacted the festive spirit, with some countries announcing extended public holidays. Ramadan, a sacred month in Islam, involves fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection, culminating in Eid-ul-Fitr, known as the “festival of breaking the fast.”
Eid-ul-Fitr commences with a congregational prayer at sunrise, followed by charitable giving to ensure inclusivity in celebrations. Muslims dress in new attire, partake in festive meals, exchange greetings and gifts, and engage in community gatherings. While officially observed for a day, festivities often extend for up to three days in many countries, accompanied by public holidays to allow for rest and family reunions.
