Congress MLA Yogendra Singh ‘Baba’ and two others, including his security guard, narrowly avoided a serious accident when their Scorpio SUV crashed into a school boundary wall and ignited on National Highway-34 in Seoni district. The incident took place early in the morning near Banjari village as the MLA was en route from Jabalpur to Ghurwara village.
The vehicle lost control while trying to avoid hitting a cow on the highway, leading to it colliding with the school’s boundary wall. Following the crash, smoke emerged from the front of the vehicle, which soon erupted in flames, as reported by a police official.
Exhibiting quick thinking, MLA Yogendra Singh, his security guard Raju Dhurve, and driver Anu promptly exited the SUV and escaped with minor injuries. All three individuals sustained only slight injuries in the mishap, with the Dhuma police arriving at the scene to assess the situation.
Local residents assisted in extinguishing the fire before it could spread further. A Dhuma police station official mentioned that upon receiving news of the accident, they promptly responded, ensuring the wrecked vehicle was cleared from the road to restore traffic flow.
The trio received medical attention at a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed their minor injuries and declared them out of danger. Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Umang Singhar, acknowledged the incident, expressing relief at the safe escape of Yogendra Singh and his companions.
Singhar shared the details of the accident, highlighting that the Scorpio vehicle veered out of control on National Highway-34 in Seoni while attempting to avoid a cow, ultimately crashing into a school wall and catching fire. He further noted that all occupants managed to exit the vehicle unharmed, averting any casualties.
