Congress MP Tariq Anwar commended the reported death of Hamza Burhan, a key figure linked to the Pulwama terror strike, in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). The incident occurred in Muzaffarabad, with Burhan allegedly being shot multiple times. Anwar emphasized the importance of eradicating terrorism, viewing the elimination of terrorists in Pakistan as a positive development.
While acknowledging Hamza Burhan as a terrorist, the Indian government had identified him as Arjumand Gulzar Dar alias Hamza Burhan, associated with the terrorist group Al Badr. Anwar also defended Rahul Gandhi’s labeling of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as “traitors,” stating that it signifies those who do not prioritize the nation’s well-being.
Addressing concerns about the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a satirical group critical of the government, Anwar highlighted the discontent among Indian youth regarding issues like unemployment and inflation. He linked the CJP’s popularity on social media to dissatisfaction with the ruling BJP’s policies, noting its significant following surpassing that of major political parties.
In a separate context, Tariq Anwar expressed support for West Bengal’s decision to allocate land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for border fencing purposes. The state government initiated the process of transferring land to the BSF for erecting fences along unfenced borders with Bangladesh, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari confirming the handover of around 27 kilometers of land.
