Congress MP K.C. Venugopal criticized the Narendra Modi-led government for avoiding queries raised by Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. Venugopal challenged the government to respond to Gandhi’s concerns, highlighting the lack of direct replies from the Finance Minister.
He accused the government of sidestepping important issues and diverting attention instead of addressing them. Venugopal alleged that the government was silent on crucial matters and resorted to distractions due to a lack of answers to Gandhi’s questions.
Venugopal also accused the government of compromising national interests in dealings with the United States. He claimed that India’s interests had been surrendered to the US, drawing parallels to the weakening Indian rupee against the US dollar.
The Opposition’s decision to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was explained by Venugopal as a response to unaddressed complaints. He stated that the government’s influence on the Chair and suppression of Opposition voices led to this extreme step.
Venugopal criticized the functioning of Parliament, alleging that it favored the government over serving the people. He emphasized the Opposition’s commitment to speaking the truth for the country’s citizens, despite challenges faced in the current parliamentary environment.
Regarding reports of a privilege motion against Rahul Gandhi, Venugopal dismissed it as a theatrical move by the government. He expressed readiness to face any challenges, emphasizing the importance of truth-telling in Parliament for the nation’s welfare.
