The Congress President has assigned AICC observers to evaluate the current political situation in Punjab and present a report. The appointed observers are Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Natarajan, and Bhajan Lal Jatav.
State Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring announced that the party will contest the upcoming elections in Punjab under the leadership of party president Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Warring emphasized that the party’s stance is clear on fighting the elections under Kharge and Rahul Gandhi’s guidance.
Warring, when asked about his role, reaffirmed his commitment as a party worker, expressing his dedication to serving the party in that capacity. He highlighted the Congress’s strong position in Punjab, asserting that the party is poised to form the next government in the state, a goal shared by all party members.
Addressing the issues of sacrilege and the Behbal Kalan police firing incident, Warring criticized the lack of action by the AAP government under Bhagwant Singh Mann. He questioned the government’s inaction despite the passage of 4.5 years and Sukhbir Singh Badal’s admission of guilt before the Akal Takht during his tenure as Home Minister.
Regarding the AAP’s accusations against the Akalis and BJP, Warring acknowledged the misuse of agencies by the BJP but also pointed out the Vigilance Department’s alleged misuse by the AAP in Punjab. He labeled the BJP as the ‘ED-party’ and the AAP as the ‘Vigilance-Party’ for their respective actions against political opponents.
Warring commented on Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, suggesting that Bittu had lost relevance in Punjab and might soon lose his ministry as well. He highlighted the Congress’s commitment to respecting and maintaining the relevance of its leaders, a principle that Bittu may have come to realize.
