Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge praised the collective effort in defeating contentious bills proposed by the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha. Addressing the INDIA bloc members, Kharge emphasized the need to bolster unity to effectively challenge the ruling dispensation on various critical national issues. He outlined a strategic plan to strengthen the Opposition alliance following recent electoral setbacks, encouraging active participation from stakeholders to establish a robust front against the central government.
Kharge highlighted the significance of the united stand taken on April 17, 2026, stressing the importance of maintaining and enhancing this solidarity to address the multifaceted challenges posed by the current governance. He criticized the BJP-led NDA administration for alleged constitutional violations, misuse of investigative bodies for political intimidation, and expressed concerns about the economic situation exacerbated by global crises.
The Congress leader raised apprehensions about the sluggish pace of new investments hindering job creation, the rise of private monopolies in various sectors, and the precarious state of MSMEs. He lamented the perceived compromise in India’s foreign policy and the erosion of traditional values the country has historically championed. Kharge also condemned practices like SIR and the alleged politicization of agencies for ulterior motives, accusing the government of discriminatory actions against non-BJP states.
Kharge drew attention to the escalating prices of essential commodities, adversely affecting the common populace, and criticized the government for its handling of issues such as paper leaks, which he claimed jeopardized the aspirations of the youth. He decried the persistent atrocities against marginalized sections of society, particularly in states governed by the BJP, portraying a bleak picture of the prevailing socio-political landscape.
