The Congress criticized BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his derogatory “Leader of Propaganda (LoP)” comment directed at Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Congress leaders defended Gandhi, stating that the BJP resorts to personal attacks as they cannot address the issues he raises in Parliament. Congress MP Imran Masood highlighted that the BJP leadership is unsettled by Rahul Gandhi’s questions and criticism.
Several Congress leaders, including Sukhdeo Bhagat, condemned Dubey’s remarks, suggesting that he focuses more on loud rhetoric than facts. Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari expressed support for Rahul Gandhi, praising him as a fearless Leader of Opposition who stands firm against the government’s actions.
The controversy arose when Nishikant Dubey referred to Rahul Gandhi as the “Leader of Propaganda” during a speech in the Lok Sabha. Dubey questioned the constitutional position of the Leader of Opposition while criticizing Gandhi’s role in the House. He remarked on the lack of mention of the LoP in the Constitution and its absence in the debates of the Constituent Assembly.
