Congress leader Jairam Ramesh voiced strong support for party member Pawan Khera following a significant legal blow in the Gauhati High Court. Ramesh affirmed the party’s unity behind Khera and expressed confidence in challenging the court’s decision in the Supreme Court.

The Congress leader emphasized the party’s belief in the triumph of justice despite what he termed as efforts involving intimidation and political influence in the case. Jairam Ramesh took to X to declare the party’s unwavering solidarity with Pawan Khera, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Department, stating that the verdict is being contested in the Supreme Court.

In response to recent events, Jairam Ramesh posted on X, reiterating the Congress’s firm support for Pawan Khera. The Gauhati High Court’s rejection of Khera’s plea for anticipatory bail in a legal matter related to his accusations against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife represents a significant setback for the senior Congress leader.

The legal scrutiny faced by Pawan Khera stems from his allegations made prior to the Assam elections against Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, the Chief Minister’s wife. Khera claimed that Sharma possessed multiple passports and undisclosed foreign assets, including passports from UAE, Egypt, and Antigua-Barbuda, along with properties in Dubai and investments in shell companies.
