The Congress has expressed strong support for Telangana Congress MLC Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud following his comments on the BJP’s alleged exploitation of Lord Ram for political gains. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput defended Goud against criticism and accused the BJP of manipulating religion for political purposes.
Rajput highlighted the BJP’s use of Lord Shri Ram for electoral advantages and criticized the party for politicizing Hindu-Muslim relations and temple-mosque disputes. He called on the BJP to address these concerns raised by their political strategies.
The controversy arose when Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud accused the BJP of leveraging religious and caste identities to win elections. He criticized the BJP for using religious sentiments solely for electoral benefits and diverting attention from real societal issues.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh from the BJP responded strongly to Goud’s remarks, stating that they demonstrated a lack of understanding of Hindu and Sanatan culture. Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, likening him to a significant historical figure during times of moral decline.
The Congress, with the backing of Surendra Rajput, has reaffirmed its support for Bomma Mahesh’s statements, framing them as a political criticism of the BJP’s alleged exploitation of religion. In contrast, the BJP continues to view the remarks as an attack on Hindu beliefs.
