A conservative activist has urged the US State Department to halt all visas for Pakistanis, including green cards, following violent protests at the US consulate in Karachi. Laura Loomer, in a social media post, called for the suspension, citing clashes outside the heavily guarded consulate compound in Karachi. She alleged that six protesters were killed and 20 injured after attempting to breach the compound.
Loomer also claimed that additional individuals were shot and killed during subsequent attempts to enter the consulate. However, there is no independent verification of the reported casualty numbers or the specifics of the shootings. The responsible party for the response, whether US Marines or local Pakistani security forces, remains unclear.
In her criticism of Pakistan, Loomer described the country as a haven for terrorists, referencing its history with Osama Bin Laden. She accused Pakistan of promoting radicalism and inciting violence against Americans and Indians. The US State Department has not yet issued a formal response to the call for visa suspensions.
Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic center, has a history of protests against US military actions in the region. American diplomatic facilities in Pakistan are under strict security measures, especially during times of heightened global tensions.
