The saint community, including religious leaders, has expressed anger over the recent controversial sloganeering against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Ayodhya. Jagatguru Paramhans Acharya condemned the incident, calling it disrespectful to the country and the Constitution. He demanded a name change for the university to eliminate ‘anti-social’ elements.
The saint criticized the slogan-shouting as an act of treason and anti-national behavior, despite the Supreme Court’s clear ruling. He insisted that the chanting against the PM, HM, and the country is a betrayal of the nation. The saint proposed renaming the university as ‘Azad Bhagat Singh University’ to reflect a more patriotic spirit.
Additionally, the saint called for action against the university authorities for negligence and demanded the removal of those involved in the incident. He emphasized the need for legal measures against individuals engaged in ‘death chants’ to prevent future occurrences. Mahamandleshwar Vishnu Das ji Maharaj from Ayodhya also condemned the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and criticized the use of derogatory language against the PM and HM.
Seetaram Das Maharaj took a stern stance, advocating for the identification and expulsion of JNU students involved in the sloganeering. He labeled them as a disgrace to the nation and emphasized the importance of teaching them a lesson. He supported the call for renaming the university to discourage the propagation of inflammatory slogans in a prestigious academic setting.
