The dispute over the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road in Patna has intensified, with leaders from the ruling NDA and the opposition RJD engaging in a war of words. Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, now the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, has reportedly refused to vacate the residence despite receiving notices from the state government.
Bihar BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi emphasized that government residences are public assets allocated based on established rules and procedures. He stressed that no individual, regardless of political stature, should consider themselves above the law. Saraogi criticized the perception of political power as personal entitlements rather than public responsibilities, stating that such attitudes undermine democratic values.
In response to Rabri Devi’s stance, RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan accused the NDA government of disregarding democratic norms. Gagan questioned the urgency of relocating Rabri Devi, highlighting her long-standing tenure at 10 Circular Road and her constitutional positions. He argued that the issue transcends mere residence allocation, touching on broader democratic principles and the treatment of opposition leaders in a parliamentary system.
