The State Vigilance Bureau in Bihar made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a revenue employee, Gulshan Kumar, red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 in Nawada district. The arrest, carried out near the Sitapur Bansi Chak intersection, has unveiled a deep-rooted corruption scheme within the revenue department. Officials exploit delays in online systems to extort money through offline channels.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar Srivastava led a special vigilance team from Patna in a well-planned trap operation following a verified complaint. The team swiftly acted when the complainant, Mantu Kumar, handed over the bribe amount to Gulshan Kumar. The accused revenue employee had allegedly rejected online applications for land demarcation and correction, demanding bribes to process the work offline.
Director General of Vigilance Jitendra Singh Gangwar ordered a discreet verification after taking the complaint seriously. Officer Manoj Kumar confirmed the corrupt practices of demanding bribes from farmers and landowners by obstructing online applications. The vigilance team’s operation on Tuesday exposed and dismantled the long-running corrupt practices in the Roh Circle.
Vigilance officials are intensively interrogating Gulshan Kumar in Patna to uncover any potential involvement of other employees in similar practices. The crackdown has instilled fear among revenue employees in Nawada district, emphasizing the Vigilance Bureau’s unwavering stance against corruption and its commitment to taking strict actions against any bribery demands.
