Lucknow, Aug 9 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that the country’s youth possess the talent and energy to face every challenge confronting India, but need the right platforms to channel their potential towards nation-building.

CM Yogi made these remarks during the launch of ‘Tiranga Yatra with Youth’ in Lucknow under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, organised on the 101st anniversary of the Kakori Train Action. He paid homage to the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice for the country’s independence and urged young people to draw inspiration from their contribution.

“The youth of our country is talented and is a symbol of energy. It has the capability to face every challenge that comes before the nation. There is a need to provide this youth energy with the right platform to move forward,” the Chief Minister said.

He said young people should be encouraged to prepare themselves not only through their conventional academic curriculum but also to understand and address the challenges facing the country and society.

“It is with this spirit that Tiranga Yatras are being organised across the country by the BJP,” he said.

The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary and several senior BJP leaders, office-bearers and workers.

Referring to the 101st anniversary of the Kakori Train Action, Adityanath said Tiranga Yatras were being organised across the country on the occasion. He paid tribute to all those who sacrificed everything for India’s freedom and also recalled the contributions of Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr B R Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Adityanath said the Tricolour was much more than a national flag and represented India’s simplicity, development, heritage and honour.

“The Tricolour is not merely the national flag; it is a symbol of the country’s simplicity, development and its honour and pride. It reflects India’s national consciousness and glory,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, respect for India’s heritage and national symbols was being accorded the highest priority. He said provisions had been made for strict punishment against those who insult the country’s heritage and its great personalities.

“The tendency to insult the country’s heritage and its great personalities while living in India cannot be accepted,” he said.

He added that the Tricolour strengthens the spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride among citizens. He said an important objective of the campaign was also to familiarise young people with the history of India’s freedom struggle and the contributions of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

CM Yogi also highlighted the significance of the year for the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, which is completing 150 years. He said the song was being sung across the country to mark the milestone.

“The national song and the national anthem are important symbols associated with the national identity of the country. Every citizen should strengthen the spirit of respect towards them,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary said every Indian felt proud on seeing the Tricolour flying in the air and recalled the sacrifices made by soldiers guarding the country’s borders.

“This is the same Tricolour for whose protection the soldiers deployed on the country’s borders do not hesitate to make the supreme sacrifice,” Chaudhary said.

He said the sight of the Indian flag flying at sporting arenas around the world gives Indian athletes the confidence and ability to pursue even seemingly impossible goals.

“The Tricolour is a symbol of the energy of the beating hearts of 140 crore Indians and of India’s unity,” he said.

During the programme, the leaders appealed to young people and party workers to take the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to every section of society and encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at every home on the occasion of Independence Day.
