A court in Barasat, North 24 Parganas district, has given anticipatory bail to Taslima Bibi, the wife of Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan, on a bond of Rs 5,000. This decision is related to a murder case involving the son and driver of a key witness against Sheikh Shahjahan in West Bengal.

The complaint, filed by the witness at Nazat police station, named Taslima Bibi and Sheikh Shahjahan as the main suspects. The district judge noted during the hearing that there was no evidence linking Taslima to the incident, leading to the court granting her relief.

The court emphasized that while anticipatory bail was granted, Taslima must cooperate with the police investigation and legal proceedings. The incident occurred on December 10 last year when the witness was allegedly targeted in an accident that resulted in the death of his son and driver.

Taslima was also under scrutiny by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an attack on the ED team in Sandeshkhali in 2024. She had been summoned and questioned for around 11 hours in relation to this case.
