In the Jal Jeevan Mission scam case, Sanjay Badaya, the accused, was presented before the court by the Anti-Corruption Bureau. The court decided to remand him to judicial custody after rejecting the bureau’s request for an additional three-day remand for further questioning.
Badaya, who was arrested at Delhi Airport on May 11, was brought to Jaipur and produced before the court. Despite media inquiries about his alleged involvement in the scam, Badaya chose not to respond. His wife accompanied him during the court proceedings until he was taken to jail.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau questioned Badaya on various aspects, including alleged commission transactions, his ties to contractors, his association with a former minister, and suspected interference in departmental affairs. The bureau considers him a key figure in the scam, linked to tenders worth nearly Rs 960 crore secured through fake certificates.
