Legendary West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh has been named as the bowling coach for Zimbabwe’s senior men’s team. Walsh previously worked as a bowling consultant during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and will now take on this role full-time as part of the retained support staff. Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed the appointment, highlighting Walsh’s experience and expertise in the field.
ZC also mentioned Walsh’s previous coaching roles, including his time as Bangladesh’s bowling coach and interim head coach. Despite a stint as the head coach of the West Indies women’s team, Walsh’s contract was not renewed after the 2023 T20 World Cup. The Cricket Committee, chaired by Blessing Ngondo, recommended retaining the senior men’s team support staff, with head coach Justin Sammons leading the team.
The support staff for the senior men’s team includes assistant coach Dion Ebrahim, fielding and lower-order batting coach Stuart Matsikenyeri, strength and conditioning coach Curtly Diesel, team doctor Dr. Solomon Madzogo, team manager Dilip Chouhan, logistics manager Lovemore Banda, and media manager Darlington Majonga. ZC also approved succession planning, with Chamu Chibhabha set to support Chouhan in team management duties and a refreshed senior men’s selection panel.
