Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary M.A. Baby stressed the need for honest introspection by all INDIA bloc parties regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha election results. He highlighted that greater unity and cooperation among alliance partners could have led to a stronger challenge against the BJP-led NDA. Baby mentioned that a broader seat-sharing arrangement and fielding common candidates by the INDIA Bloc could have potentially altered the electoral outcome.
The veteran Left leader emphasized the importance of treating all alliance parties with equal respect and involving them meaningfully in decision-making processes. He underlined the significance of focusing on people-centric issues and conducting electoral competition with mutual respect among alliance partners. Baby reiterated the CPI (M)’s commitment to strengthening the INDIA bloc to effectively counter the BJP and its allies in future elections.
Reiterating the need for a credible political alternative at the national level, Baby criticized the BJP-led NDA government’s policies for exacerbating economic inequality and neglecting key issues affecting the populace. He demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities and criticized the government’s handling of various social and economic challenges. Baby also highlighted the achievements of Left governments in states like Kerala, West Bengal, and Tripura in addressing societal welfare.
