The CPI(M) in Kerala is experiencing internal discord as its crucial Central Committee meeting takes place in Thiruvananthapuram. This unrest arises amidst electoral setbacks and approaching Assembly elections. Notably, the party has encountered defeats in various polls, sparking concerns within its disciplined cadre base.
Amid these challenges, former legislator Aiysha Potty’s public criticism of the party leadership has triggered discussions on internal differences. Additionally, senior CPI(M) leader A.V. Jayan has announced his resignation from the party in Wayanad, citing unfavorable circumstances within the organization. Jayan, who devoted 35 years to the CPI(M), expressed concerns about decision-making processes being influenced by intimidation rather than collective dialogue.
Jayan also alleged that certain individuals within the party leaked information to Congress leaders to isolate and target him. He cautioned that such actions could harm the CPI(M) in the long term. These developments, occurring during the Central Committee meeting, pose an additional challenge for the party leadership, especially in Wayanad, a district crucial for the upcoming Assembly polls.
