The Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar is actively combating corruption, as evidenced by the recent arrest of a Junior Engineer in Sitamarhi district. The accused official, Vijay Kumar Sharma, was apprehended red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe from a contractor named Raj Bhushan for expediting payments related to a departmental project.

Upon receiving a formal complaint from the contractor, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau initiated a preliminary verification, confirming the authenticity of the bribery allegations. Subsequently, a vigilance team set up a trap in Sitamarhi, leading to the arrest of the accused official when he accepted Rs 1.45 lakh in cash.

Following the arrest, the accused Junior Engineer, Vijay Kumar Sharma, was taken into custody by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau team. An officer involved in the operation stated that the arrest was made based on a complaint alleging bribery in connection with sanctioned project funds, emphasizing the bureau’s commitment to combating corruption in government departments.

The accused official is set to appear before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur for further legal proceedings. This anti-corruption action is part of the Bihar government’s ongoing efforts to root out corruption in various government departments across the state, reflecting a zero-tolerance approach towards unethical practices.
