The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has expressed gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their significant commitment to the development of visually impaired cricketers globally. India’s visually impaired cricketers have achieved remarkable success on the world stage in the past decade, securing multiple Men’s World Cup titles since 2012 and a historic Women’s World Cup victory. The BCCI’s formal endorsement ensures that this success is not only acknowledged but also sustained and enhanced through structured backing at the highest level.

This milestone comes after productive discussions led by Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), who has been a key advocate for inclusive growth in cricket. Shah collaborated closely with CABI leadership, including Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar (Chairman) and Shailender Yadav (General Secretary), to ensure that blind cricket receives the necessary structural support.

Emphasizing the importance of inclusive growth in cricket, Jay Shah’s efforts have translated into concrete institutional support, reinforcing India’s position as a global cricketing powerhouse and a pioneer in promoting accessibility in the sport. The BCCI’s commitment to supporting both the Men’s and Women’s National Teams includes provisions for international travel and accommodation for two overseas tournaments annually for each team, accommodation during bilateral series in India, and exclusive access to BCCI-backed stadiums for domestic and international matches, ensuring top-notch playing conditions.

This partnership with the BCCI will enable CABI to enhance its global promotion of blind cricket by bridging the support gap received through CSR grants. It will facilitate the organization of tournaments and participation in away series, further expanding the reach and impact of blind cricket worldwide. Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar expressed gratitude to the BCCI and Jay Shah for their collaboration, highlighting the pride it brings to CABI and the players. The support received ensures the continued growth and inspiration of blind cricket in India.
