In a significant development in the investigation of Nithin Raj’s death, the Crime Branch has apprehended Dr. M.K. Ram, the main suspect in the case. Dr. Ram, who had been evading authorities for months, was captured in Kodagu, Karnataka, and is currently under interrogation in Kannur.
Nithin Raj, a 22-year-old dental student at Anjarakandy Dental College in Kannur, tragically passed away after falling from the fifth floor of the college building on April 10. The incident, initially deemed as an unnatural death, sparked allegations of caste-based harassment by faculty members, leading to the suspension of two faculty members, including Dr. Ram.
Following a carefully planned operation based on intelligence inputs, Dr. Ram was arrested from a plantation in Kodagu, where he had altered his appearance to evade capture. The delay in apprehending him had drawn widespread criticism, with accusations of influential connections aiding his escape.
The Supreme Court’s rejection of Dr. Ram’s anticipatory bail plea prompted his disappearance, culminating in his recent arrest. The Crime Branch is now focused on uncovering the circumstances surrounding Nithin Raj’s demise and identifying any accomplices who may have assisted Dr. Ram while he was on the run.
Nithin’s sister, Rahkee, expressed relief at Dr. Ram’s arrest, emphasizing the family’s pursuit of justice through legal proceedings.
