A Marshall Islands-flagged crude oil tanker, Nissos Keros, is on its way to Visakhapatnam with around 270,000 MT of crude oil cargo for India. All oil refineries in the country are running at full capacity with ample crude inventories, ensuring sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel. Domestic LPG production has been boosted to approximately 52 TMT/day to meet local demand.
During the past four days, over 1.80 crore LPG cylinders were delivered, surpassing the bookings of about 1.78 crore cylinders. Online LPG cylinder bookings surged to nearly 99% recently, with Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) deliveries based on registered mobile numbers reaching about 96% to prevent diversion. Citizens are advised against panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG as the Government is actively ensuring availability and combating rumors with official information sources.
To streamline operations, LPG consumers are encouraged to utilize digital booking platforms instead of visiting distributors. Additionally, citizens are being prompted to explore alternative fuels like PNG and electric or induction cooktops. Despite reports of increased sales and congestion at some retail outlets, all petrol pumps nationwide are functioning normally with ample stocks of petrol and diesel available, as confirmed by official sources.
Industrial consumers are urged to source diesel through authorized channels, while all citizens are reminded to conserve energy in their daily activities during the current scenario. The Centre has directed States to monitor district-wise diesel and petrol distribution, enhance inspections in vulnerable areas, and take strict actions against unauthorized diesel procurement through retail outlets by industrial and commercial users.
