Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla criticized the US government’s labeling of the legitimate government of Venezuela as a “foreign terrorist organization,” calling it a politically motivated action. Rodriguez described the move as arbitrary, fraudulent, and politically driven, highlighting the undermining of international anti-terrorism efforts. This decision by the US comes after President Donald Trump declared Venezuela as a “foreign terrorist organization.” Rodriguez expressed concerns that the US aims to isolate Venezuela internationally, intensify pressure, and escalate aggression, potentially destabilizing peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean. He reiterated Cuba’s unwavering solidarity with Venezuela in the face of what he termed as “infamous barbarism.” Additionally, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on six tankers and shipping companies involved in transporting Venezuelan crude oil, targeting Venezuela’s oil sector, which the US claims supports President Maduro’s government. These measures were part of a broader sanction package that also targeted individuals associated with Maduro.
